Look out page 4 magoo has his groove on and I'm commin' for you......

I finally figured out this folding with GPU deal and my GTX 285s are working like dogs:eek:

The old 790i Ultra had a bad RAM stick and kept crashing, but I got it worked out.

Been away from this for about 4 years, so since I had some spare GPUs I jumped in it!!!

I'm way behind.....but if I can find a used PS3, I'll be on this like a duck on a june bug.:D

Heh, you have been away from a while. Don't bother folding on a PS3 as it just isn't worth the cost of electricity anymore. Last I heard, you might get 900ppd on a PS3 versus what you are getting right now on your CPU's and GPU's.

So guys, do we think this folding addiction has claimed its newest victim? :D

please tell us that your folding with those 580's :D

and welcome *back* to the addiction

I never noticed that he had a pair of 580's in the gaming rig, but i'd like to know myself why his main rig isn't folding! At least my excuse is that the current F@H ATI client is a total POS that isn't worth it on my 5850's............

Hehehehe.........well, main rig is used by son for many things as well as my gaming addiction, at some point it will come on board.

My smaller computer with SLi'd GTX 260s is going to come on board as soon as I can fiddle a litttle bit with the overclock...........it's a 790 Ultra based box and the MB is a little tempermental to let it run 24/7.

My main reason for getting started again......my father-in-law passed away 10 years ago this last Christmas Day from pancreatic cancer.......in his memory, I thought it would be a good thing to restart my folding.:D

Thanks for the info regarding the PS3.....I was under the impression they were still pretty hefty producers.....but looks like I haven't been keeping up very well with what works and what doesn't.

Folding isn't going to cure cancer, but it is always our hope that the knowledge that will come from the folding@home program will allow others to find cures to cancer and so many other horrible diseases. I started myself because cancer runs rampant on one side of my family.

Once the bug bites you, it will be an addiction worse than crack. I can't wait to see your main rig come online. At some point, you'll probably get addicted enough that you stop gaming just to fold more. Luckily for me, F@H doesn't have a good enough ATI client to make me want to fold on it for a measly 3300ppd per GPU.

I originally started folding classic work units on my laptop, and then got addicted enough to build a Bloomfield bigadv box followed by a Gulftown bigadv box a few months later.
