Good morning fellow [h] members.

I am on a quest to make an Oblivion themed PC and i need to acquire some dark green shaded lighting which still puts off a good amount of light. There are many neon green options out there, but i want a forest green light if that is even possible.

Anyone know of anything premade that puts out dark green light, or a way i could mod something so that it would do it. The darker green the better.

EDIT: Gah, sorry bout my thread title, i just realized i made a typo and it sounds like reallly bad engrish

I'll take a stab at an option...

I wonder if getting the brightest green CCFL lamp you could get and laying some tint over it would work at all?

Just a suggestion

I'm wondering about this too. Maybe some layers of green plasitc wrap or something?

Thats what i tried, got some dark green saran wrap left over from easter, but no matter how many layers i put around the ccfl it still came though bright neon green. When i did it with a white ccfl, it came out a seafoam green. Its really strange, because when i put enough layers of saran wrap around a incandescant light, it produces exactly the effect i want

Different wavelengths of light. That's why.

Put green acrylic over a red LED, and it blocks all of the light.

I used lighting gels for theater lighting. Worked pretty good for me. The stuff comes in every shade of color.

Here's a craptastic pic of the vinyls I use:

And here is a pic of 2 completed colors:

As you can see, the blue is as blue as blue LEDs, not the panzy pastel blue that most CCFLs emit. This is a true dark blue. All of the other colors give off a brilliant light as well. Red and blue are the most noticeable though when you compare them side by side.

As soon as I get a minute to make one up. I have 2 tubes already done in the lighter green. It's a very strange color, kinda like an alien green. I dunno how else to describe it really.

I have 1 tube done in light green, but I still have to do the other in the darker green.

I decided I was gonna do some major rearranging in my computer room and dining room, so that took a bunch of time. It's still not done yet. At least I can actually see my diningroom table now though!

What a quality statement. Im trying to get away from the "new blue" and i dont like red, or neon green, so it seems dark green is the way to go

Ya know, I might actually get a chance to do that this weekend.

It doesn't normally take me this long to get soemthing done, but its a real busy time of year in the computer repair world. Everyone's fixing their computers before school from all the crap they installed over the summer.

That, and its heavy geocaching season.

And, I decided to totally redo both my computer room and my work area at the same time.

Ugh.

No worries Sarversystems, take your time. Comment was directed at the "green is the new blue" guy

Paint the inside of the case flat black and use green lights.

Hmmm, just thought of something, is there any kind of filter i could put on my case window that maybe could achieve this effect?

dont use vynl, as it was sed before use gels meant for theatre lighting, rosco makes everycolor you could ever imagine X 2.

Roscolux #2004: Storaro Green might work although you may want somthing darker
or Supergel #89: Moss Green

Roscolux #2004: Storaro Green looks close, although as you said, just a tad darker wouldnt hurt.

only 15% light transmission though, i would need some really really bright ccfls

Anyone have any experience with the roscolux stuff, i want to get the ball rolling on this

hmm, ive been looking through rosculux stuff, and i like these three colors best

http://www.lighttrader.com/detail.asp?product_id=roslux 122

http://www.lighttrader.com/detail.asp?product_id=roslux 90

However, the first two are under "diffussion materials" and i dont know if thats different than normal. can i still use those?

Also, once i order this stuff, what kinda cathodes should i mount it on, almost all of em dont let much light through at all (14% at best), so i assume i need really powerful white cathodes?

I hate to ask all these questions, but im new to this, once i get my cathodes how do i mount this onto them, glue, what?

Clear scotch tape will be your friend.

I still say that vinyl lets through more than 14% light...
