Longer windows XP load times with RAID?

So far this RAID business haven´t been a success. Windows load times has gone up dramatically with my current 2 RAPTOR raid setup. The discs themself works okay but windows XP somehow thinks it should rest for like 30 seconds or more on the boot up screen??? When the hard drives starts working it goes quite fast but :confused:
 
my WINDOWS doesnt boot slower. but before windows loads is MUCH slower.

i will wait a bit longer to get into windows when im screaming once im in it.

Yes the same for me but in the whole it means I am waiting longer then before. A bit weird really.
 
I've noticed slower boot times too. It seems to be when the drivers get loaded and then it initialsies or something
 
I've found that with any of my RAID (RAID 0, RAID 0+1 and RAID 5) machines, the slowest part of the boot is for the RAID card to intitialize.

No biggie though, push the "on" button and walk away. There is always a beer to fetch or a coat to take off....

lol, that's what I had to do with my old P100, it would take 3+ minute to boot win98 so I went to get a RC and frozen pizza to eat while waiting:)
 
you mean you guys actually shut off your computers? I don't normally ever shut mine off unless there is some kind of power fluctuation or power loss. On reboot though, I could see it being annoying.
 
Are you paying for the current in your house? If so you would also shut it off ;) If not to let it cool down a bit. My 25 m2 apartment get really hot when I leave my computer on for long.
 
I nearly never shut down my system, But when I do, Windows loads in about 10 seconds. My old drives (SATA 7200.7's ) took about 15 seconds.
That little grey bar flys by and Im up and running. I think that you guys have something wrong for sure, Raptors should spin up and load in no time flat!
 
Perhaps it's the stripe size that the array's set to. Mine's at 64 which is ok, and it boots faster than my 160gb Maxtor/8mb cache HDD when that was my primary drive. Windows only takes about 15secs to boot I believe. That's from the time I push the on button. I get about 3 revolutions of the loading bar, monitor clicks and right into windows after the little windows screen.

Eh, just noticed you're running a 2500 so, that would make a big difference.

However, in general your boot times are supposed to dramatically improve. It's just some of the other applications that don't fair so well with RAID 0 according to some.

A 2500 at 2,3 Gigahertz...

the thing is windows aren´t working at all for quite long it seems.

I'm assuming the drives have already been defragged, although I don't know if that's gonna make a difference. Sometimes the SATA connections can be pretty crappy, allowing interefernce because they're not shielded. I've actually not heard of a case of this yet, but it's a possibility.
