Just now my Windows XP has a very long delay b4 showing me the login options, nothing has changed on my PC both hardware and software maybe i changed something i wasnt aware but im pretty sure i didnt change any settings today anyone know how to speed-up my logon screen ?

I know when I defrag my box it helps. I use O&O defragger. Maybe try registry mechanic?

already tried bootvis and perfect disk, no avail. theres no harddrive activity during that LONG delay about 35secs delay.. and this happend just now

anything change in the system? a driver or that???
do a scan for bugs and check msconfig startup items also

Fixed the problem one of the services needed for the ICS was accidentally disabled. now the long delay is gone

ICS? People actually use that now, in the days of the $30 routers?

On my mom's DSL, they didn't provide a router and the DSL modem was an ancient one from a vendor that had just gone out of business. It was the only model SBC had that would work with the weird singalling that was required by their "fiber to the curb" setup.

None of the routers we tried would stay connected for more than fourteen hours without a reset no matter how we tweaked them, but the Windows XP PPPOE connection would run for weeks.

I dual homed her box, with a router connected to the second interface between her machine and the rest of their network using ICS to provide it Internet access. Her area has since moved to fiber to the premises, and SBC supplies a 2wire unit with the service. Never underestimate how strange the service some people have for internet access...

you have an ipod plugged in? sometimes my ipod will make XP appear to hang while its really just waiting for teh ipod to initialize.
