Sent my Dad a new hard drive, Seagate 80 gb and over the phone I'm talking him through the install.

He's using win98 and a Shuttle 661 motherboard with an old 17 gb drive.

I looked at the Shuttle's manual from the internet site, and I don't think there will be a problem with the fact that it only has UDMA/33, but doesn't have any mention of LBA options. Too old, huh?

What will happen when win98 see's an 80 Gb drive? No problem? Or if too large, what needs to be done?

Simply make a number of partions? Or use some software?

I moved onto win200 long ago, so I never had a large drive with win98.

Depending on how old that MB is, it might not recognize the size of the drive. A quick google search says 37.5GB. Windows 98 on the other hand will only support up to 64GB without a downloadable fix. In theory you could get around both problems with a bit of software. A bootloader for the harddrive to bypass the bios limitation and a patch for Windows to fix it's issues.
