Logitech Z5300 5.1

Is this a good speaker? I don't have enough money to get a Z680. Which one would you get?

A Z5300 or a Z560? Both are 5.1 THX except:

I own the Z680s fantastic speakers for price and features over some of the competition, such as ProLogic2 and other stuff for such a wicked price.

And I picked up the Z5300s for my Friend's Birthday and he likes his big sound, so I figured he'll shit his pants when he finds out that me and my other friend split for the speakers, and boy did he ever!

Most games and dvds are supporting 5.1 so I would go with the Z5300s over the Z560 even though your losing like 120 watts, and their about the same in price almost. Also the Z5300s fully support all the consoles out there like GC, Xbox and PS2.

yea, i figured power wont matter as long as you have all these features. The Z560 is 2 years old and the Z5300 came out this year.

I have heard that the 560s have quite the failure rate...


And to add to that... newegg.com doesn't sell them...

I have been running(blasting to hell) my 560s since april of 2002, and I have had no problems, yet my friend had a set that lasted 4 months then went kablammo, so I think its just the luck of the draw, supposably they have fixed the problem with the amp blowing up so I wouldn't worry much, they are awesome speakers and I would get them especially for the price, even if they aren't 5.1. sure, you could tell the differnece in movies and in some games, but these babies are freakin powerful. Like a previous post "Quality over Quantity"

even though the 5300 is newer and 5.1, doesn't mean that it is better than the older 560's.....


EDIT sorry, i didn't see the above that you already decided, hopefully you would still consider the 560s if you didn't already buy the 5300's......

I've had mine since March 2002 and havn't had any problems with them.

i had klipsch 2.1's, then got the 5300s. Soon later (2 months maybe) I returned the 5300s and went back to the klipsch 2.1s. The surround sound was very weak IMHO, and the quality of the sound not even near the klipsch 2.1

the 5300s sound is big you won't have to worry about that, their loud, 280watts spread over 5.1 is still enough to make you shit your pants in Doom3 at night.

As for the surround sound, sure it's not the best, compared to the high ends like the Z680s, the promedias and the Giga/MegaWorks speakers, but you only get what you paid for.

And for that price tag for a 5.1 system it's undeniably the best low costing 5.1 system hands down. And with games and dvds it's ideal to get a 5.1 system. Low costing was kinda the wrong way to put it, I should have said best mid range high preforming 5.1 system

I just ordered the z5300 yesterday and only have one question, for those of you who own it....


What is the cable length for the Surround satellites? My study is in a small bedroom amnd that is my only real concern.
