depends on what you do with them actually..

if you do music the most.. i wouldnt really recommend them.
the sats have zero mid range as far as im concerned. and the sub cannot make up for it.. my altec lansing 640's had a much better balance in sound.

games and movies though, they are another story.

I'll be using them for all three.
I have a seperate amp/speakers that I will probably still use for music though.

I'll throw in another vote for "Exactly What Jason711 Said".

I have them, they're nice, but not for music. Great if you need the decoding abilities for cheap, which is why I originally got them. Xbox + Z680s = instant surround games/movies for cheap.

well click click click and job done. thanks amazon. £225 been taken off the credit card, and they should arrive this week.

THEY OWN, if you want 5.1 just stop and get these, i got some and they're destructive.

Damn, I want a pair of these, but I got the 2.1 version instead (ie. Logitech z-2200). :)

I have them. high pitch whine in 6channel and lots of hissing in other modes. but u can't hear it with sound on. just a pain in the ass cus u gotta turn them off or plug headphones into them when ur idling.

dont listen to these people, make sure you have an audigy 2 card or better, and freaking tweak the sound threw software to your liking.honestly these speakers dont need tweaters they sound great,as for the hiss people talk about it is so small you can hardly notice it unless you have your ear to the center channel, other than that these speakers own youll never want to put the bass higher than 65%unless you enjoy having everything shake and rattle like cups and plates in your kitchen :p

you obviously have no concept of midrange sound.. or balance for that matter.

Hell the sub has plenty of mid-range ;p. I have only the sub hooked up right now and I can hear the people singing through the sub ;p. Seriously, I wouldn't really recommend these. They are alright after you eq them to death.

the sub is pretty much all low frequency.. the tweeters are all highs..proper mid-range is pretty much impossible to replicate through software eq. though you can make it sound a bit better.

Umm..apparently u should listen to people like me... but my input is that it it were only as simple as tweaking your hardware, there would be no need for good speaker setups. Don't rely too heavily on software positioning. Any software based virtual tweaking will reduc distort the inteded sound. ie. EQ, virtual room placement, etc.
