Will the Logitech 5.1 Z-5500 speakers work with the Quad Power Mac G5? There's only one audio jack in the back of the Power Mac.

i don't see why they wouldn't, it just won't be true surround sound. I believe there's a setting on the speaker controller that turns a stereo input into virtual surround sound and plays it through all the speakers.

If it won't be surround sound, would'nt it be better just to get quality 2.1 speakers?

absolutely. that's what i would do. you're paying for a lot more than you need with the 5500's. There's a few very similar speakers sets that logitech has that are 2.1. These speakers should suit you just fine. They'll have tons of bass still and save you over 100 bucks.
