any help much apprieciated

thanks :)

I know this may sound stupid but is the power switch on the sub switched to on? how about the cable going from the module to the sub? is it plugged in all the way and tightened down with the screws? I cant remember but I thought that if you unplug the monitor looking cable that goes to the controls when the sub power is on that it could cause damage. Did you by chance do that? Is the wall socket that its plugged into work? I know some of these questions are stupid...but many of times I have overlooked something so simple which caused me half hours of problems. good luck with it, hope you get it to work!

hi well i took them back to the store and got them swapped over today so i have a new set and have set them up with no troubles but thank you anyway for your suggestions Viper16

i assume you mean while the speakers are idle. but no i do not get a hum from the subwoofer.

yeah, not standby mode though, say if you are in 6ch analog mode. i get a hum. its annoying. dell is shipping me replacements however.
