Logitech z-5500 @ Newegg!!

Actually it appears the only difference is the appearance..... the even have the same wattage ratings on the sub.... basically an updated z-680 with logitechs new "look" and a control pod you can actually see the lcd on. =x

Maybe they made them not sound like crap and not break (in comparison to Klipsch).

Hopefully they got rid of that crappy hissing sound, and have better quality control...

-10' sub
-No hiss
-24/96
-Digital EQ
-3 analog input on the rear of the control pod can be used as either one (for connecting to a PC) or a three separate analog inputs
-new electronics design

-new electronics design

I shudder at the thought of that.
look at how well the "new design" the Z680's had worked out, and how long it took them to solve that. ;)

These look OK, but if they're gonna redesign something, atleast give it two way speakers and dont take .5" off them. Also, why 10" sub? 8" are a lot shaper and tighter.

rofl. 10' sub. Good one. 10" sub can be pretty darn responsive. I think it's a good size. I was waiting for this, too bad I already bought the z680's. 8" is good enough now. Unless I hook my rockford fosgate 12" subs to my room again.. I had those hooked up to my PC once rigged up through a car battery and a MTX amp. That was awesome bass. I didn't have any 8 gauge wire though. I had to use 16 gauge for the battery. :( Anyway. They seem like good speakers. Maybe my 680's will "break" and i'll have to get an RMA on them soon :D. HINT HINT j/k

I think logitech should have tuned the sub better. If they also added a tweeter to the satellites, the system would be worth it. The mids/highs are just as important or even more so than the subwoofer. It's what really gives you the music, the sub just adds depth.

I went through and ordered mine last night. I bet if I waited a few weeks the price would have dropped a bit, but I want new speakers now... my current ones are starting to get flakey :(

I'll post about them when I get them, but since I never owned the z-680's, I can't compare to that.

Should've payed 50$ more and picked up the Klipsch Ultras 5.1 from Bestbuy ( 350$ ) I know for a fact those will blow away the new logitechs in SQ.

I was barely able to afford the z-5500's, $50 more for the 5.1 ultra's was quite out of my price range
