logitech x-530s

howdy, I've got my x-530s hooked up to the Dell Lappy below and I just bought an External Creative 24bit live card for it... Before I only got the 2 Front R/L speakers + Sub working w/o the C24bitLive... Now with that hooked up I only get the two Rear R/L, Center, and Sub working ... anyway I can truely get all 5 speakers + sub going? I was told that the sound card would do the trick. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Enable CMSS and all 5 speakers will make sound from a stereo source

I actually have CMSS enabled already... The back of the Sound Blaster box has an input for the rears + sub, but the way the X-530's are setup they all plug into the sub with 3 input jacks coming off the main source speaker. I've got the three jacks plugged into the Sound Blaster box, but it only plays out the rears,center,sub now... it sounds better now...but I want all 5 speakers blaring... thanks for the help though

Check simple things like volume levels, muting, etc.

well, im taking it you've never seen the x-530's, so let me try and explain them a lil better. There are a total of 5 speakers... 1 main source speaker (power source and volume controls, w/ 3 input jacks), 2 Rear Satalites, 1 Front (the other one is the main source speaker I mentioned), 1 center speaker, and 1 subwoofer (all speakers plug into the back of the subwoofer). In order to get all to work I was going to have to buy a sound card b/c my laptop only has a 2D card. So w/o the card only the 2 front speakers and subwoofer would work. So I went out and bought the Creative Labs Sound Blaster 24bit Live external Card. I plugged it all up correctly. Now with it all plugged in, its the exact opposite. The 2 rear speakers, 1 center, and 1 sub work w/o the 2 fronts working. Im not really sure how I can get it much simplier than that, hoping that some one out there uses these speakers on a laptop, and maybe even the card. Like said before, any help is greatly appreciated.

I think you would be mistaken to assume that.

2 fronts 2 rears a center and a sub = 6 speakers


The Soundblaster Live external has an output for the front, rear, center and subwoofer, a USB input, 9 pin DIN for Creative speakers and a Coax S/PDIF jacks on the back and as such I am wondering why you said this:

then you said this:

See why it doesn't make sense?


Are you sure you have everything connected correctly?
Green plug on the speakers connects to the front output on the Live.
Black plug on the speakers connects to the rear output on the Live.
Orange plug connects to the center sub output on the Live.
If you are sure they are connected like that reverse the front and rear jacks
(plug the green plug into the rear output on the live and the black into the front output) to verify that the front speakers work.
(you already know the rear output works so if you connect the front speakers to the rear output and they don't work your speakers maybe borked)
