Logitech x-530

Ya I would like to know too, great price and good reviews on newegg.com but are they ok?

I bought those, set them up, then realized I didn't have the desk space for all of those speakers. :D They actually sound very impressive - clear bass and a lot of power. But alas, I'm selling my set that was used for less than an hour :(

Greg

if they are anything like the older z-640's, they sound AMAZING considering how inexpensive they are.
i just bought a set of x-530's that should be arriving soon, retiring my z-640's to the gf since she has no speakers.
but i have absolutely no complaints on the z-640's, even if i had paid $100 i wouldnt really have a complaint except that the wiring likes to knock around the lightweight satellites.

i only paid $40 for em a year ago, EXCEPTIONAL PURCHASE. and i dont doubt that the x-530's will bring me the same enjoyment just in a little bit of a nicer, updated style.

Why would you spend $60 on a crappy 5.1 system? $60 worth of headphones will get you a MUCH better experience in surround sound (and a very good one if you push the budget a smidge higher) - whereas $60 to get 5 speakers and a sub isn't going to get you much quality at all.

IE., for around that price, you can get either 1-star speakers or 4-star headphones.

(Now, if you were talking $350, THEN you start getting into surround speakers worth considering. At this point, though, I'd still honestly prefer headphones, now...when paired with a soundcard like the X-Fi that does headphone-CMSS *so well*.)

I can agree a little here, but still, computer speakers don't have that high quality... You'd be alot better off with a speakeramp + some decent real speakers... But that's in another pricerange. :)

Headphones would be alot better here yes. But some people don't like having headphones on their head, dunno why ;)

If you can get like HD555's, dunno what price they are at in the US, they would be alot better, they don't really need an amp and sound quite good. HD650 + X-Can or EAR One would be cool, if you consider getting some REAL stuff ;)

i love my set. my roomate got jealous and bought a set also. cant beat the price for the quality.

although if you cant setup a 5.1 properly... i dont see a point in getting 5.1 speakers..

Ummmm - how do you 'properly set up' average $10 speakers? LOL

Ummm....howso? The OP asked how we'd rate the speakers. I'd rate them "poorly", and suggested a better audio investment for that money.

Seems a useful contribution to the thread to me, anyway.

yeah your first post expressed that just fine, second one was worthless.

considering the power output there quite nice... the sub, being as small as it is as some trouble with the lowest of the lows... (if i had to guess i would say its audible range give out at about 28hz) it still trys its not like the cross over kicks in and it stops trying... it just cant go that low.... if you listen to rock, it will pump a bass drum just fine... the thump thump thump of techno is just fine too... but some hiphop and rap (and r&b) the bass will get lost if it drops out...the bass control knob on the sub is basicly usless, at the lowest volume its about right for just about all types of music, turning it up only serves to muddy the sound, as for the sats, again, there low powered, but you'll be supprised at what you get out of them considering, and yes... tthe sats are very light weight... knock the cord and they fall over... the control sat (front right) has both input and outgoing cords on it and the outgoing apperes to be basicly a vga cable(heavy) and makes it very prone to moveing around and falling over... once you get them set where you want i recommend getting a blow dryer and heating the cord alittle to make it relax into the position you need it to be in so it dosent move... yeah.. you can get a set of headphones.... but, if you want 5.1 on the cheap, these are the way to go... dont expect them to fill an overly large room... there basicly desgined to be sat right infront of, there miove performance is great, (i can watch movies over them, and still hear bass and explosition effects at midnight with a good deal of punch without wakeing the roommates... ) i would say there for watching movies at nominal levels, and listening to music while you work on other things, while in close range to the system, but not so much for gameing, the light weight of the sats make them to easy to move and knocks the sterio seperation out of whack, this is a job for head phones...

hope that helps some

thore

Great explanation!

I got so me of these for my parents, they loved them, They didnt listen to real "Hardcore" bass stuff, so it was fine.

didnt realise this thread was going...i forgot about it :p

im selling my current computer with the speakers it has which are amazing...but they are 4.1 not 5.1...i would buy speakers but i listen to my music quite loud...the speakers i have right now can be heard around my whole house which is a semi mansion..and its in my room theye amazing...my favourite music is hip hop/rap/soul all those things and i would like a nice base seeing as my current sound system has amazing base and id like good clarity...

thnx for all the help people...my friend is going to get some enthusiast speakers for me quite cheap (works in a store) and he says they are a hell of a lot better than the x-530's with better clarity and base...thnx for all your input guys..you just saved me spending £50 :)

i just bought x-530s (any questions just ask me)

coming from cheapie $30 dell speakers (more like $5), they are absolutely amazing. i wasn't sure if it was the crap speakers i was coming from, or that these sound like they should cost over $100. really amazing. compared to the z-5300s, these are almost on par. the bass kicks, but the z-5300's sub has a crisper sound (it's like 4x the size too). the best $50 i have ever spent on any computer component.

Actually, I got mine for $40 with free shipping (Buy.com has occasional deals). I can't find a set of headphones that can beat that.

They sound pretty darn good too. They're well put together for the money, and have a two-year warranty. They also have a headphone jack in the front right channel so you can plug in headphones and mute them for times when you want headphones.

The only things I'd have really liked were slightly longer cables, and jacks for a second input source, but for the price, I can't complain. For awhile, I ran a used ReplayTV I bought through my ATI TV Wonder and got full 5.1 surround, which was very impressive.

some people dont want headphones only - what if i want to watch a movie or listen to music while roaming around my room / house - headphones wont do me any good.

I got my nice Sein's 580 precisions, but sometimes i just like having speakers for sounds.

the bass control knob on the sub is basicly usless

So true. it is very useless - i bought mine for $70 here in costa rica, and i am impressed for the price to say the least.
