Has anyone used this? What kind of opinions do you have on it? I currently have the MX revolution. After about 6 hours of use it's going out on me. One of the main issues I had with this mouse has been resolved with the Performance MX in that it doesn't have a charging dock. The charging dock on the MX Revolution's contacts would wear out so you would spend a good 45m trying to get the charging to start.

I owned a Rev-MX and still have my Rev-VX, I never used a Per-MX. Have you tried wiping the contacts on both the mouse and cradle? Sometimes over time crud will block the contacts and I think it is a 5 volt system which is easily impeded.
If you like all the button features on the Rev-MX the Per-MX is a step backwards since the search button is now a mechanical toggle for the scroll wheel and cannot be mapped. The side scroll wheel is gone and now is a zoom and thumb click which leaves you short another button. The only thing I like on the Per-MX is the ability to use it on bare glass.
If you like a button rich mouse I would pay a little extra for another Rev-MX or go with the G700. Other than that I guess you go with the Per-MX.

Excuse me, I meant to say 6 years not 6 hours of use. I frequently wipe the contacts down. Over time from being set in the cradle it's actually worn down the contacts some and causing faulty connections. I have to twist and re-seat the mouse about 10 times every time I want to charge it. Also at this point when I left click it randomly double clicks. I have looked around online and it seems as though the switch used for the left button might be going out.
I never really got into use the extra buttons, so that doesn't change much for me. Was mainly concerned about the durability of it and how good the sensor is and such.

I am using one right now. It is a excellent mouse for us "Large-Handed" folk. The ONLY annoying thing that I do not like ( and this is user pref ) is the mouse button on the bottom. You can disable that though and I have done so.
I love how you can use it with the cable attached as well.

I had double click issues with my Rev-MX too, if you are up to it there is a switch contact cleaner(a few dollars compared to a new mouse) that might help with the switch and charging contacts, I also believe there is a youtube video of someone cleaning the Rev-MX.

Yeah, I'm kind of big handed myself. Not like basketball player but wide handed, fist like a brick. Yeah I thought the mini usb charger on the perf MX was great. Charging while using it is quite amazing for anyone using a rev MX.

I use one. It's definitely for a "palmer". One of the reasons I got it is that I can plug in a usb cable to charge the mouse while I keep playing. I wish the battery life was better. There are probably gaming mice out there with better ergonomics and programmable buttons but it doesn't offer the every-day convenience of the Performance Mx.

This is what killed the Per. MX for me.
It lacks the dynamic shift-on-the-fly SmartShift scroll wheel of the MX Rev. It now only switches modes from the click-click-click ratchet to free spinning with the chintzy-feeling mechanical button.
Some like this better, but personally I feel they ruined the best scroll wheel in all of mouse-dom. Be warned.
They did the same thing with the G700, I was extremely disappointed. All I want in life is an MX Rev with a variable DPI. =(

I got the Performance MX as a replacement for my Revolution MX under warranty. Unless you make use of all of the buttons and features, there is virtually no difference in terms of feel or use except that the switch button protrudes higher now that it is a mechanical switch that toggles the free scroll.
I have the Performance MX. I like it a lot, but I can't compare it to the Revolution MX since I never owned one. I like the fact that it does not require a charging station. A USB cord is all that is needed to recharge the battery while still in use.
Battery life is decent for the single Sanyo Eneloop battery which is included with the Performance MX. It can probably be used for around 10 - 12 hours of gameplay. There's also a switch to turn off the mouse when not in use. At least, for me recharging the battery is not a big deal since I already have rechargeable batteries (Sanyo Eneloops). Eneloop batteries can hold a charge for a very long time since they have an extremely low discharge rate when not in use.
Next time I see one for less than $70 I'll probably buy another one to store as a spare.

- There isn't enough area for the bottom of the palm, so part of your palm will still float
- It's still too narrow.

- The back and forward buttons have been moved so high up, that you have to move your thumb roughly 1.5x more to get to them
+ Much easier to middle click without scrolling left or right
- The scroll wheel no longer clicks at the end of the motion when scrolling left and right to mark the end of the motion, it just turns to mush.
+ Same amazing super scroll
- It's no longer automatic
+ It's now manual, so no more annoying per-application settings are needed
+ It's rechargable
++ You can use it when it's charging
++ It comes with an eneloop
- It still needs to be charged
+ Darkfield sensor is good.

Got a Performance MX as a warranty replacement for my MX Rev because it started double clicking. After a year of use the Performance MX is double clicking as well so in terms of durability it's no better (Logitech should seriously do something about those switches in their high end mice).
In terms of features the MX Rev is better, the awesome automatic fast scroll is gone and so is the side wheel. Unfortunately Logitech don't make the MX Rev any more...
