All I really want in a mouse is sensitivity controls on the fly for BF2...I really hate that none of the stores around Seattle carry either of the regular high end gaming brands...And no way would I buy a Microsoft model. Best buy carries the wireless Logitech gaming model but I have had bad experiences with wireless in in the past dont mind and actually prefer a wired mouse.

Is there an overwhelming preference of either brand? I kind of feel like it's buying shoes online...like I wont really know what it feels like in my hand until I buy and try...is there any way around this or is that the cost of comfort?

Try before you buy is your best bet. Some swear by Logitech's 'molded' to your hand style, while others would spit, piss, and shit on it. Razer offers mice that are pretty sleek and simple.

I would have to say though that Razer mice probably have a much steeper learning curve than other mice. Because the way it is shaped, your fingers may end up in a position where your thumb and pinky/ring finger feel like they are closing up your hand. In terms of straight up performance, I doubt that either company's offerings trounce the other's.

The name of the game here is preference/comfort and how much you are willing to spend.

My friend has a Razor. I've been using logitech mice for around 5 years. Used MX5xx, MX700 and MX1000. I really didn't like how my friends Razer felt after using, but I guess you can get used to anything. Logitech is much more ergonomic, and the MX1000 fits my hand perfectly.

I'd go with either the G7 or MX1000. With the G7 you'll be changing batteries. Not sure how long they last, but with my MX1000 I can leave it off the charger for a couple weeks before it gets down to 1/3 battery power. It's amazing how long it can last. And only a couple hours needed to charge to full.

Don't think you can change the sensitivity with the MX1000. You might be able to using software called uberoptions, it shows up but I don't know if it will work. It didn't for me when I just tried it.

They both make great mice. Just go to a local Best Buy and try them out.

I love using my Razer for gaming. Screw ergonomics; the Razer fits fine with my hand.

I do prefer a good logitech trackball over a mouse for non-gaming stuff though. /flame-shield on

i think the honest truth is they are both very good but if your switching it just takes time to adjust. i got a razer switched from logitech and i love my razer. took me about 2 weeks to feel comfortable with it now im stable in cs:s

The new G7 cordless mouse is supposedly as good as a wired mouse...at least the review I read. They've added something in there that takes care of the problems with wireless, e.g interference, etc. Dunno, tho still like my wires.

I had an MX510 and gave it away... didn't stand up to my Dual Mouseman. Try before you buy is right.... or find a store with a nice return/exchange policy so you can buy a few mice and try them all out... then take your pick of the litter.
