Logitech MX700 Replacement

After several years my of reliable use, my Logitech MX700 has started to crap out on me.

A couple of days ago I picked up an Logitech Wireless Marathon Mouse M705, which I thought would be comparable. So far, I'm not impressed, it's very glitchy with too many tracking errors. I have tried to configure it, but it's not up to par with what my experience was with the MX700. The M705 will be going back to the store.

Does anyone have another mouse they can recommend? I'm not a gamer, so do not need anything sophisticated. Just would like to get a mouse that runs smooth.

I still have my Logitech MX 700 and it has seemed on the brink of failure many times, but I have "rescued" it every time. Sometimes it seems it wouldn't charge and I wondered about the charging station. Every time though it was the mouse battery compartment, or mid-way in life, it was the batteries themselves (I'm on my second set of batteries).

First thing - open the battery compartment, take out the batteries, and swish out any dust (cat hair, etc. ;)). Rub the battery ends (assuming there is no actual corrosion problems), and the internal connectors, to remove any surface "shmootz", even if "invisible". Put back batteries. This seems to fix my problem every single time - except when the original batteries finally wore out.

Replacement batteries can easily be gotten. There are caveats. From another website they warn you must get "two AA nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries that are rated between 1500-2300 mAh". I am using such rechargeable NiMH batteries from Eveready, rated at 2000 mAh.

Good luck! The MX700 is a great mouse, even for gaming!
