The mouse is one step up from the MX500 which I have now, and looks to be worth it. But one quick question... Why are 2 AA batteries required for it if it's a cord mouse?

That would suck lol. A corded mouse that needs batteries is like a fish that needs a life jacket to keep from drowning.

Hey no problem.
Yeah the box on the side where it says "this box contains" it actually lists 2 AA batteries...so there may be an updated version of either the 700 or 900...or they may just not be paying attention to the box and printing the same shit on them all :p

hmmm maybe they are trying to give you free batteries.

I can't make up my mind.
I hesitate between the MX510 and the new Razer Viper (www.razerzone.com). They both cost the same 49.99$US

MX510 has:
Image Processing: 5.8 megapixels/sec
Resolution: 800 dpi
Acceleration: 15g
Speed: 40 inches/sec

Razer Viper:
Resolution: 1000dpi
other??

the MX510 is on sale at BestBuy for 39.99$USD

$49.99 - $10.00 IR (Instant Rebate)

MX 500

MX™ Optical Engine Maximum Performance Specifications

* Image Processing: 4.7 megapixels/sec
* Resolution: 800 dpi
* Acceleration: 10g
* Speed: 40 inches/sec

MX 510
Technical Specifications

* Image Processing: 5.8 megapixels/sec
* Resolution: 800 dpi
* Acceleration: 15g
* Speed: 40 inches/sec

No more buttons, huh? :).

I gotta be honest, I haven't actually 'felt' a difference in optical mice since they managed to make ones that don't skip when you move them really fast.

I just buy new mice because I like shiny things with buttons. So unless that 510's really damned shiny...

RIGHT before I read the 'fine print' I was thinking 'holy hell, I'm buying one of those on monday!'

At least I'm true to my nature :(.

Its the swirls mang...:D

that last one would be nice as hell.

as i sit here, drunk as hell, i try to think about how i would make those chops, hahah, im not a nerd...

the MX500 has negative acceleration which is a "gamer" feature (yeah right). Since this was such a failure, the MX510 no longer had negative acceleration that cant be changed in software. Among a bunch of other improvements and stuff, I'd buy one instead of an MX500
