I read a few months ago when these were popular that people were taking out some useless metal thing in the mice to save weight. I got one, after all this time and would like to do the same.

Are there any guides?

EDIT: Went ahead and voided any warranty that this mice had; I teared the stickers but at least the shedded weight is improving the feel.

I never understood why people took out the weights in the Logitech mice!!! I mean its not that heavy, sure its on the heavy side of mice, but come on, its not that heavy that you cant move it. Pretty stupid if you ask me, I have the MX510, and I never complained about the weight. Actually, I never complained about anything on this mouse :D

Well, logic tells us that a lighter mouse = easier to move = faster you can get to them before they can get to you. :p

It may not make a huge difference, but you have got to take any advantage that you can.

Come on man, wouldn't you rather be the REAL ultimate power of a ninja? Why be a fat assed armored knight with a 60 pound sword?

One of the advertised features of the MX510 is that is has reduced weight compared to the MX500. I have one of each (well, the wife uses the 500) and the 510 is definitely lighter.

hands down even the best ninja gets his shit cut out by a knight.

Yeah, I don't understand why people needs to take the weight off. I mean after using it for a while, I don't think you even care unless you pay attention to it. And like stated above, "it's not that heavy," that it hurts your wrist or will slow you down.

Have no problems with the weight of my MX500.

The best I can respond to this thread is a " WTF ".

i did it to my old mouse and i didnt notice a difference its only like 3-5 grams that your removing from what i remeber

I really don't want to steer the thread off-topic (this exact discussion explodes to several hundred page debates every time), so I will only tell you that my lame attempt at a facetious post was not based on any factual evidence or observation of odds or skill (I thought the mention of the infamous RUP's tagline would be enough), but it had a basis for the point of "don't knock it till you've tried it." Afterall, leaving "well enough" alone is not what the [H] is about. I prefer the weight out, also why I didn't stick with my MX700 for serious gaming sessions. My MX518 does not have a weight and it is a smidge heavier than my MX510 without it, but still not as heavy as the 510 with the weight, so I'm not worried about it.
