Logitech MX (mx700) problems...is mine defective?

I just have a quick question. I've had this Logitech MX DUO for about a month now. I have liked it a lot. However, I've noticed one problem and I'm not sure if it's just a wireless issue or if my mouse is defective. This is what happens...

I notice it mostly in games (FPS). Every once in awhile (probably every 1-3 minutes, I'll be running around shooting people and I'll let go of the trigger (left mouse button) and my guy keeps shooting. Its almost like the mouse button got stuck (although I know its not physically stuck). And other times it does just the opposite and I'll be running around and try to shoot someone and my gun won't shoot and I'll have to hit the left mouse button 2-3 times to get it to shoot. I've also noticed something weird in the desktop environment. If I hold down control on my keyboard and highlight multiple files (one at a time), 9/10 of them highlight just fine, but about 1/10 i'll click on and nothing happens. Then if I move my mouse, it trys to move all the files I've previously highlighted. So its like my mouse button is "still pressed" from the last file and trying to drag the selected files. Sorry for the long description, but I hope its adequate to describe what's happening.

It seems like I only notice this mouse button "sticking" or "not-clicking" effect when I'm using (holding down) buttons on my keyboard. Does this happen with any of you guys? I'm wondering if its just a problem with the wireless communication. Or do you think my mouse is defective?

Sounds like a problem I had when I first got my MX700... Make sure the reciever is pretty far away from the monitor(s). Having it sit on top of the actual computer should be fine, but they get pretty screwy if they are anywhere near the monitors...

Really...? Does it make that much of a difference? My reciever is only about 9 inches from my LCD monitor. Is that too close? And does it make any difference if the monitor is LCD or CRT?

And just moving the reciever fixed your problem?

My mx700 used to do this every now and then, and I found that it was because I had it sitting on top of my shuttle case, and the metal was interfering with it. Also, make sure you don't have any pop cans between the receiver and mouse. That's cause me all sorts of grief a few times.

Well...this may have been the issue. I moved my mouse about 2 feet away from my monitor and highlighted 100 files and it didn't have the above mentioned problem once. I tried gamin just for a couple seconds and never had my trigger stick once. Now I just need to find a place to put the reciever that is far enough away and still looks ok.

Just wondering, you don't by chance have anyone using a wireless mouse near you? When my computer used to be in my families office, my mom's wireless mouse usually made my MX700 act wierd. All I had to do to fix this was change the channel my mouse was using, you might want to try doing that too. You may also want to try using different batteries incase the one's that came with yours are defective.

No other wireless mouses around...Just this wireless keyboard from the MX DUO package...but they shouldn't interfere with each other. I put them on different channels also. I think it must have just been too close to my monitor. However, I put it inside my desk cupboard right next to my external hard drives. They are not on all the time, just when I use them. Will that cause issues when they are on also...just like the monitor? They are just normal internal hard drives.
