Logitech MX duo mouse buttons sticking

Yesterday, I picked up a Logitech MX duo at Best Buy. So far, I love the keyboard, great features, great touch for typing. The mouse, I like, but I've been having some issues using it. Every five clicks or so on the mouse buttons (the main ones, left and right click) the click will either not register on the computer at all, or it will act like I'm holding the mouse button down even after I've released the button. As you can imagine, this makes it rather frustrating to navigate Windows, let alone play games.

Mechanically, the mouse is just fine, I gives off a solid "click" sound, so I suspect there is something wrong with the drivers or some other software error. I'm also using the combo through the USB port, only, without the keyboard port attached or the mouse adapter being used.

Any suggestions?

I'd say play with it some (take it appart and see if something is sticking, if your good at stuff like that), or just take it back for exchange. Actually, I'd just exchange it really, if its not that far out of the way.

yeah, I would exchange it. You never know if cleaning it would help in the long run.

Thanks for the replies, but...

Cleaning it isn't the problem. Like I said, mechanically it is fine, the buttons don't physically stick, it's just that the software thinks I'm holding the buttons down when i'm not.

Anyone have a similar experience?

oh! sorry about that! I guess I didn't read your post well enough. :(

Thats kinda wierd, try reinstalling the software or downloading new, or have you already?

Yeah, I tried reinstalling the software, got the newest one online and everything.

One other thing I've noticed: I get terrible range from the cradle with the mouse. The keyboard can go into other rooms of the house and still work fine. (fun if you crank up music and wanna control winamp :D ) But the mouse gets around a foot max. It's so bad that at the far edge of my mousepad, the mouse cursor will stutter. Am i positioning things badly? The cradle is as far as it can be and still work?

I thought the MX700 was supposed to be the best cordless mouse. I'm far from impessed at this point. Is this a lemon? I'm thinking so, but hopefully it's something I can fix. :(

You need to try moving the reciever far away from speakers and your computer case. Then as far as you can from your monitor and anything else electronic (although mine sits between my LCD and CRT). It shouldn't be that sensitive but you should see if it is interfering first. If it doesn't help I'd exchange it while I still can.

the 2 thing most likely have something to do with each other. exchange this right now. there is most likely something messed up with the transmitter in the MX700.
