I left my computer stuff in the care of my ohh so fabulous roomate and according to him nothing happened my mouse just sat in a box of his while i was away for a couple of months. But now when i use it it has a weird goo oil feeling on it. I tried cleaning it off with alcohol but no avail. Its almost as if the rubber was heated up and melted or something and now its just got this weird sticky texture to it. Anyone have any ideas what to do i.e. paint on some sort of sealant or what not.
 
people used to sell strips of teflon tape for really cheap around here. I beleive mouseskatez is a similar product. Try strapping one of these devices to your mouse, they can do wonders on an abrasive pad like a ratpadz or func.
 
Uhh, he's talking about the textured top, not the pads ;)

Not sure what to suggest? Which mouse you got, might be cheaper / simpler to just get a new one.
 
They do sell those "Mouse Grips," (not sure of the exact name) which are basically foam pads you can cut up and put on your mouse. A crafting store might have something very similar. Although I don't think it would be as good as the orignal plastic, at least they wouldn't be "gooey."
 
Mine has the same feeling. Creepy. I always thought it was from sweety hands or something gross like left over undeafeatable dorito oil.
 
your roommate should just fess up that he was looking at pr0n and it kinda got all over the mouse....

and this is the part where you run and wash your hands and throw your mouse away :p
 
Ever felt the steering wheel of a car thats been sitting for a long time? Maybe thats what happened? Or....it just might be time to run and wash yer hands :p
