Im not sure this is the right forum, but I am having problems with my MX 518 Gaming mouse.

When im playing a game, like CSS... the mouse can just random stop working for seconds, its like if i would plug it out of my USB port and plug it in again.. sometimes i have to do just that.

I have tried playing with Setpoint installed, and not installed.. no difference.. ive tried different USB ports.. and i have even tried another mouse of the same type..

Nothing makes any difference.. the mouse randomly "falls out".. sometimes it can work for days.. sometimes not.

Any solution ?

Probably wrong forum but... meh.

I think it's probably the hardware itself- if it's new or under warranty I'd RMA it. Try it on another pc and see if it does it? Maybe bring it into work for testing and use it for a few days to see if you can duplicate it.

However since it's not occurring with other usb devices it's probably not the usb port. Only other thing I can think of is to make sure and plug it directly into the mobo's usb ports and not any hubs/keyboards/etc to eliminate that as a cause.

Switching to USB port straight into the motherboard does not help..

This started happening with my MX510. Turned out it was simply just dying. I tried it in multiple computers, and even hooked it up to the p/s2 port.. no go. Sorry man. :/

Thanks for ur input, i thought this too, until i borrowed the same mouse from a friend, and got the same problem.

happened to my mx510 as well. It ended up being the cord, i think, because if i rotated the cord, my computer would sense the mouse as attached, and then if i rotated back, it would sense it as unplugged. I just decided to get a G5...and it rules

Actually, I have an mx510 and have never had any issues with it. That said... I'd go with my original suggestion and RMA it and get a different model.

well if its not the mouse then its the mobo, do all your other USB devices work fine or is it only the mouse. gonna second the RMA idea though

I've had the same problem with Logitech mice for going on two years now. I have a feeling it related to the mobo not liking my RAM, or just a kinda broke mobo. Doesn't happen ALL the time, just some of the time. (Wired mice work fine, wireless not so fine.)

Looking forward to plugging this mobo directly into a 480v outlet. Just a couple more months...

Try using a USB hub. A few of our Dell systems here at work have this exact problem when running linux. Something to do with the motherboard. Using a powered hub or installing a USB card and using that solved the problem.
