I'm looking to replace my trusty old mx510, which has worked fine for 2 years but now the buttons don't always work. I have a G5 but, believe it or not, I find both l/r mouse buttons to be harder than the 510 and it wears me out after long gaming sessions so I can't use it.
So my first question is, does the 518's mouse buttons feel exactly the same as the 510? And secondly does anyone know if there are any new logi mice coming out soon that might be worth considering instead? I don't like wireless either, they are too heavy.

Thanks

Having played with the MSIE3.0, MSI3.0, Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer, MSIE4, Logitech G5, Razer Boomslang 1000, Razer Copperhead and Logitech MX518, I'd have to say the MX518 is second only to the MSIE3.0 as far as comfort and performance goes. I think it is very comfortable and have almost come to like it more than my beloved MSIE3.0 and the performance in games is excellent. As with going between brands there are always going to be things you prefer or dislike but I think it is a wonderful mouse.

That being said I have 3 MSIE3.0's on the way in case I feel otherwise down the line ;)

The MX700-MX1000 series from Logitech are nice if you dont mind them being cordless. I just upgraded from an MX700 to MX1000 and love it. Lots of buttons. But like I said, its wireless.

I have a 1000 and compared to my 510 it's way too heeeeavy.. i don't have ginormous hands so all that weight wears me out after hours of fps gaming, i absolutely must stick with wired mice

I have the mx510 and the G5, and personally I'd say wait for the next best thing. I've used the mx518 and its not all that dissimilar from the 510, so the upgrade most likely isnt worth it and there will a new mouse or line in a few months, maybe next year.

I've used all of their high end mice... MX1000 is my personal favorite due to button placement, and most comfortable ergonomic design. Battery life is amazing, never need to be replaced. But it is heavy compared to wired, so you probably won't want it.

the G7 is very light for wireless. It is the same design as the G5 and MX5xx, although it has one side button and no weight disks. My old room mate had one so I used it enough to know about it... it felt like it was as light as most wired mice, was really light compared to my MX1000.

MX518 is same design as MX510, so buttons should feel the same... I don't know why they wouldn't. Also you might want to try giving logitech a call, let them know you are having problems with your MX510. They will replace it for free if they can determine it is defective over the phone. If you want the MX510, make sure you ask them for that one because they usually send newer models as replacements.

you should go to a store like best buy or comp usa to try out the mice. They should have a bunch of mice on display/
