yeah, I have this remote and love it. I was thinking that I'd go with the RF model after using this and I don't think I will. The IR on this thing is powerful and gets my TV from many different angles.
 
I don't really like mine. I would probably even prefer a cheaper one like the logitech xbox360 that runs on special from time to time.

It's the buttons, especially the numbers. There isn't a spot carved out of the plastic for each of the buttons individually. Rather they all sit on some kind of honeycomb membrane rather flimsily and loose, making the middle ones too spongy. These same middle ones don't always seem to fire even when you get the tactile feedback and "click." Press the 5 harder because it didn't register you could accidentally get the 8 since there is no separation. Maybe I just have fat fingers, but the design is to blame also.
 
I bought this one on amazon for 99$ last march.

New its only 106 bucks from amazon at the moment too, so not sure how hot a deal.

delay in this remote is annoying btw, seems like most people are not sensitive to it, isure am

You can program the delay however you want. I love mine because it actually does what it says. First remote I've had that does.
 
oh i know, trust me Ive messed with the remotes settings MANY times. still a slight delay, like I said not everyone is sensitive to a ~10-20ms delay
 
I need to mess with it some more one of these nights, when I am on another source, say my Xbox360, and I want to watch TV, it doesn't scroll through my TV's sources to get to HDMI.

Plus I need to mess with the delay settings. Mine are at Default and bug the hell out of me (I've been dealing with it like that for a month)

Had mine for like a year, I think it was $80 for the refurb on amazon about a year ago and new for this price from dell about a year ago.

So I guess it might still be a deal if you figure in inflation since then :p
 
i have a 680 and its absolutely fantastic. but on the other hand, that 550 that keeps going on sale and everyone raves about is honestly not as good. the biggest problem with the 550 is the 'two clicks to do anything'. most harmonies have dedicated buttons or menus for activities, while the 550 has an activity button you have to push first, then find what activity you want. doesnt seem like a big deal, but this is an everyday nuisance. also, i too noticed a terribly long lag between its commands... im not sure how much of this delay you can take out on the 550 though, i just know out of the box it is slow as dog crap compared to the 680.
 
I also found that the speeds also change depending on the equipment being controlled. Some devices don't work with less delay. I had to play with delays to get my one button" activity features to work, but it really wasn't a problem. Like some people, some equipment is slow :p
