Logitech Harmony 659 Refurbed - $47.13 @ amazon

is this really worth the money?
even at 47.13$ it seems pricey for a remote.

It's an awesome price.

This remote is nuts. It has buttons like "Watch a Movie" and "Watch TV" and "Listen to Music." If you're in "Watch TV" mode and you press the "Watch a Movie" button, it will turn off your cable box, turn on the DVD player, then switch your TV and receiver inputs accordingly.

The remote literally remembers which components are on, what inputs they're set to, etc. You can program any number of additional activities like "Wii" or "HTPC" or whatever as well.

All the settings are managed via a PC application, too. You literally type in the model numbers of your components, and the online database automatically chooses the right sets of remote codes. Just plug the remote into the USB cable and it updates itself.

Awesome remote, and this is a great price. I just had to replace my 659 (I broke the backlight when my cat dumped soda all over it) and got one from eBay for about $60.

yeah pretty much what kumquat said. If you have owned one of these remotes you know what the fuss is about they're awesome. Just read the amazon reviews of them.

i have the 880 that i bought less than 150 bux and thought was awesome deal.. it does pretty much everything..

Just so everyone else knows, the 659 does everything the 880 does.

The 880 is more expensive because it has a large, full-color display and built-in rechargeable battery.

oh thanks.. now i feel bad.. spending almost 80 bux more.. :D. this is really a good deal if it does the same as the 880..

Pretty much all of the Harmony remotes have the exact same functionality. The differences are button layout, screen, and battery.

Oh, and one or two of them do RF as well as IR.

880 is nicer don't feel bad, I have one as well :) The LCD eats batteries, not sure if it would be as bad on this model or not. I beleive the 880 also displays more options at once on the screen but not 100% this would man to fewer buttom presses on some devices like when controlling the TV.

The only thing I run into is I can't get the green button from my media center remote. I tried an application someone wrote that runs in the background but then it seems to interfear with my escape key working in certain games like crysis. In others it is fine though... So I'm still using two remotes.

my boss was trying to say the same thing about Harmony type remotes. I just told him he would think otherwise if he took the plunge. Excellent, excellent products. One of things that so good you don't even think about it that much. You just use it for everything. It will only get cooler as there are competitors now that have their own wifi and/or bluetooth and have Sideshow functionality, meaning you don't even have to connect to them to computers anymore. Logitech will have to respond.

if you don't connect them how do you program them? Or do you mean no cables?

the 880 got rid of 6 or 7 remotes for me, and soon to be more! Not sure on this one I would do some research before purchasing.
