Logitech G5

The red light is just an LED. You can't see the light from the laser. ;)

No there is not light on the bottom.

Just picked up the mouse.. It looks much nicer then the ugly pics I seen over the net. The feel of the mouse is solid. I was afraid due the removable weight/carthridge you would feel rattle. There is none. Feels like one SOLID.Piece. Awesome Mouse Money well spent. no complaints. Yet.. :D

Just got mine installed and seems to be pretty good.

A couple of observations:
1.) Is it supposed to have dull paint? The pictures show it being much shinier. Not a complaint as I think it will turn out to be beneficial during those long nights of gaming. My fingers won't slip off the buttons.

2.) My center mouse button (the wheel) is nearly impossible for me to click. This may be due to my small hands but it's the only thing I really don't like about this mouse.

Yes, the center button is a complaint that many people have about this mouse. :(

The paint on the sides is dull black.

mine is badass cant beat 30$ my center mouse button works fine, no problems their...just wish it came in other colors

There are 8 spots for weights in the adjustable weight chamber. You get 8 4.5g weights and 8 1.7g weights. I put all 4.5g in there and it feels fine to me. I like it so far compared to the MX 510 I had (and MX500 before that) although it skipped during fast turns in CS (I didn't install the drivers yet  )

It's not paint. It's rubberized plastic. The finish is supposed to be dull, and the middle button/scroll wheel does suck. That's my only complaint as well.

I now own a G7 as well, and it suffers from the same scroll wheel flaw.

i cant get my G5 to work with my icemat mousepad it cant keep traction and slides too easy

Mine is waiting at the house for me to use with my new rig I am building. I cant wait. I am using the MX1000 right now with my laptop and I love the Laser. I will never go back to optic, I hate it when you are playing an FPS and you go to turn and you somehow are looking at the ceiling.

The G5 is really nice but it doesn't work with my qpad 100%, but with my steelpad qck i got it works flawless. :D

got the g5 for xmas and I'm liking it so far.. the left and right buttons also feel harder to me than my mx510.. what would be REALLY cool is if they could make a mouse that lets you adjust the button sensitivity.. ;)

hey guys what are u doing with sensitivity and all that.

im having a hard time gettina good feel for it during games.

what are u guys doing with the setting on teh mouse itself i have it in the middle setting(the fast adjustment thing).

Defaults for me. I put at normal mode when im runnin around, when i snipe i put it on the lowest setting.

Thanks for the firmware update advice, I have had trouble on some surfaces. Besides the middle button like most others have said this mouse is great. I like the paint job with the worn out effect especially on the left button. And the weights are great.
