Logitech G5 doesn't work with everglide mousepad?

I just got a Logitech G5 mouse but the thing doesn't track AT ALL on my Everglide Ricochet mousepad. Yet it will track just fine on any other surface i try, such as my desk. Can someone tell me why the heck that is? My other Logitech mice (MX510 and MX518) have always worked fine on this pad so i don't understand how a newer supposedly better model doesn't.

EDIT: Just read a review that said the mouse does not like dark surfaces, what a joke, you'd think they'd post a warning on the box or something. Now i have to go buy a new pad and somehow find one in a lighter color.
