I've got a fileserver spinng the main disk drive all day long for no good reason and just won't spin down despite everything I've done, all other drives spin down but this one. So I've decided since I need some decent logging for my firewall, I should just send my logfiles to my fileserver.

My filesever has Windows 2000 Advanced server and I was wondering if 1. Are there any applications I can get to run on there to pickup the logs and 2. Does Windows 2000 come with any of those abilities so it can do it itself?

kiwi syslog. Have your firewall if it has the ability to send its logs via syslog to your server you install kiwi syslog on.

I second the recommendation for Kiwi Syslog Daemon.

Point your firewall syslog messages to the server running Kiwi and it will log them to files. You can even setup Kiwi to e-mail you when message counts and etc. get too high.
