Lockups in BF2 play

I have been experiencing complete system lockups during BF2 demo play. I recently got a X850XT and I am thinking this is the source of the problem. What happens is the screen freezes then a few seconds later it goes mostly black with random color lines running across the screen. I think its just a defective card but before I go exchange it I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing a similar issue?
 
Did you run drivercleaner when you switched? Are using the Cat's 5.6s?

Also, does it do this in any other game?
