I was disappointed when I clicked on the link to read the Lycos screensaver thread, only to see it was locked. It was linked on the front page and people were encouraged to share their thoughts, but the lock makes that a bit difficult. At the very least if the mod didn't think the discussion about distributed attacks was staying on-topic enough to stay in the distributed computing forum, he should have moved it.

Kind of pointless to encourange people to participate in a locked thread.
 
There was already a thread about the subject in the correct forum, (as the Major has pointed out), to have moved the thread would then place two of the same subject there which also would result in one being closed. Since the thread that was posted in D.C. was two hours older I simply went ahead and closed it where it was. Sorry if this does not meet with your idea of correct administrative action, however it is the way it is done here.
