Departing for college in a few weeks with the rig in my sig - obviously I don't want the GTX to walk away, so is there a way to better secure the thumbscrews on my P180? Thanks.

Seriously though, I've seen those security screw sets around at some of the modding sites.
I'd suggest taking an existing screw and go to Home Depot. As the guy the guy in the screws aisle for help. I bet they have some tamper-proof, vandal-resistant, anti-theft screws you could use.
Another route would be to get one of those locks that go through the tabs on the door.

walking away with the whole rig should be the worry. it's a pain the the ass already to open a case, then take out a card or three and jet, without locking thumbscrews or the like. it seems like someone that could jack a card could jack the whole rig too. walking around on campus with a computer tower isn't really an out-of-the-norm sight.
i'd look for a combo of the two, though. something that secures the panels on and secures the rig to the wall or floor or something like that. maybe heavy-gauge screws through the floor of the case into the floor of the room, then a locking mechanism for the panels?

You are too paranoid, thieves are not going to bother walking off with your 50lb computer (The P180 is a beast I know I have it). On a college campus they could easily make off with 10 laptops. Thieves are stupid, and they aren't going to know "hey this is a 500$ video card lemme jack this". Even most kids at college wont know that. They will just think "hey cool computer" then go jack off to some porn on their dell laptop.
When I was in the dorm I didn't really worry about my laptop or my 2500$ Stradivarius Trumpet, simply because I kept my laptop locked up, and didn't think there was any thief dumb enough to take a trumpet over my roommates laptop.
Bottom line : Too many other easy, no brainer things to steal at college to worry about your system beyond maybe spending those few bucks on security screws if it eases your mind.

no one will take the time to steal a graphics card, as stated before there are a billion other things more esily stolen, and easily sold on a college campus than a graphics card. your best protection is to not go around bragging about your card. in fact it is the safest to just not tell anyone that you have a gtx. dont waste time with screws and locks and stuff. no one steals desktops. laptops, cellphones, mp3 players and such are what get snagged.
