How many here are getting total lockups that last from every thing from a few seconds to several minutes. Sometimes it start continuing as normal sometimes I have to reboot.

When restarting windows always tells me it´s my video card that is the problem. Now I wonder if it´s driver related or hardware related. I am currently running at stock. I have done so for most of the time really because I figured out from the start I got quite a crappy card.

But this happen when I run 400/1100 as well so I am not sure. The temps are good so that shouldn´t be a problem.

I think it´s gradually getting worse and worse. I flashed it once with an official leadtek 6800 ULTRA BIOS but that was long time ago. It´s unmodded and untouched.

I remember review sites would state that it was clocked at 425/1200 though mine was default 400/1100. When it was new I ran some 3DMARK tests and soon realized this wasn´t an overclocker. 430/1200 was max it would do. So I have kept it at highest 425/1100 during the whole time. Only overclocked in games that seen benefit and my temps where always below 70.

But I think I got a bad sample from start that is slowly and slowly deteroriating. That or it don´t like the new 66.93 drivers. I will go back to 61.77 at a rear resort.

Now the only problem is that it´s never artifacting or anything so I can´t RMA it. They will just send it back and say this is okay. It just plainly lock up where music continue playing until it thinks it´s cool enough to continue I guess.

A bit frustrating to say the least. Especially since I play games like Pacific Fighters which don´t let you save and you can be on an exhaustive 30 minute mission and on your way home after a successful run you hard lock it truly sucks.

This is the first card I have ever had this problem in never had it with previous ATI or nVidia cards.

haha ur saying ur card isn't an overclocker.. haha try this mines 443/1.12.... at least ur memory is good because i rather have a 1.2 memory than a 443 caore..

i flashed my GT and tried to make the stock settings be 400/1100 with some bios found here on teh [H] and it would lock up running rthdribl (ir whatever it is), but i could take the same bios and make it 350/1000 and then just simply OC to 400/1100 and up...wierd. then i just took my original bios and make the stock settings be 400/1100 and it works fine.

I didn't notice you saying anything about fastwrites. Turn them off. It fixed my instability.

fast writes=off.

And you are all fine with the 66.93? Anyone played Beyond good and evil with them?

Me and my 6800 GT are fine with them. I play D3 demo, CounterStrike, Rise of Nations,

i'm getting lockups like you describe too , it just locks up and the sound is stuck in a loop , happens about once a day or two, haven't found what the problem is yet. i changed my power supply from a 450enermax to a 550 antec thinking it might not be getting enough power but that didn't help any. other than the ultra we don't have a whole lot of hardware in common so i'm thinking it might be a driver issue. my card is straight out of the box with no mods or bios flashes, i got a watercooling setup lined up for this computer but waiting until i figure out whats going on before i remove the stock hsf from the 6800U and slap on the dangerden block i have. other than the 6800U the only thing i see in common is that we have saitek joysticks (Saitek software is not installed) maybe i'll try unplugging it and see how it goes for a few days.

I imagine if it's running more then it can get power for yes.. But I don't know. That'd just be my guess by common sense..

I'm getting the same lockups, especially in HL2 & CS:S. They last for several seconds, where the game just locks right up & the sound gets stuck in a loop. After that, everything rips back to normal.

This system is 100% @ Stock and no BIOS flashing has occured on the graphics card.

Running Detonator 67.20 on WinXP Pro SP2.

PSU is an OCZ PowerStream 520W with dual-dedicated lines running to BFG 6800 Ultra OC (425/1100).

These lockups were NOT here with my 9800 BIOS flashed to 9800 Pro & overclocked to 9800 XT speeds, and the only thing that changed so far was the video card.

Anyone have any ideas yet on a possible "fix" for this really annoying issue? :)

To the above poster, you have flashed your BIOS and turned fastwrites off right?

Hard to imagine it not getting enough power out of a PC P&C 510D...

I thought so too but it does so at stock and when my ambients are low. And it´s hardly over 70 degree Celsius anyway and better than stock cooling... I can understand it happens when oc

Can still be a overheat issue of course but I mean no stock and standard 6800 ULTRA BIOS for this card. No modds.

And it´s not a PSU issue if so I have to much power for the card to handle :p
