Lock Audio Volume?

Any way to lock the audio volume in Control Panel? I keep noticing the sound gets low or even muted and when I check the audio controls, the slider is way down. I think some of the games must be doing it. No sound card, just onboard audio. It's an Abit AN-7, N-force 2 board.
