hey guys
my built-in network chip failed, so i got myself a PCI adaptor.
now here's the problem

im used to monitoring the amount of data coming in and going out with Local Area Connection activity thing, and the old one shows Bytes, so its easy to do the math and convert it to Megabytes.

but after the new card was installed it showed packets intead of bytes. i searched everywhere but cant seem to find a option to change it... anyone know how?

Same here; I always remember packets instead of bytes.

The good news is this; The MTU on your system is likely 1500 bytes, so you can figure out the rest by mutliplying that by the packet #.

Bad news is sometimes packets will be filled with garbage to get it out the door, so to speak, so it's not a reliable way of counting.

XP onwards, you can get it in Task Manager / Networking by adding some fields.

Depends on the drivers for the nic. I've seen them do both. Never found a way to change it though. Maybe looking for a program that monitors for data transfer. I know a few friends use to use them but I can't think of what they are called.
