Ok, so my friend brought me this piece of crap gateway that only has usb plugs. it seems that legacy usb support isnt enabled in bios, and I cant get into bios plugging the usb keyboard into any slots (ofcourse),

This hunk of crap had windows Me on it, corrupted, so that's no go either.

Is there any other obscure way to reload windows on here since I cant just pop in any cds (all require you to strike a key or make a selection before loading, and like I said before the keyboard is not recognized)

had to hit the "f lock" key on the keyboard

thanks all!

Outside possiblity.
Use a ps2 -> serial port adapter and see if it recorgnizes a keyboard plugged into com1

Dont you just love a "Catch 22" situation.

Luck.......... :D

Reset the BIOS using the jumper on the motherboard. Hopefully the default settings will have BIOS support for USB keyboards.
Dano.

there are no serial ports either, I will try the bios reset thing, but figured it should have been default on in the first place.

Now to figure out how it opens.
