These cool ass living room LEDs sure beat the hell out of the ol’ lava lamp, don’t they? The video starts with a view looking down one of the lamps which, if there was a way to do it, would be a cool way to light hallways and such, wouldn’t it?

It would be quite cool to have white LEDs used as normal everyday lighting. But when party time comes, flick the switch and get the disco affect right in your own living room. :D :p

How about turning a whole wall or ceiling into a (massive dot-pitch) video display. Seems like it should be possible.

looks like the place where Kylie Minogue records her videos

I could seriously see a market for custom ceiling panels with such, and a switch setup mounted on a wall by the actual lightswitch. Normal lighting for illuminating the room, then the party effects for when you have people over.

Ford has a setup like that in their auditorium... but it's huge.

I still don't quite understand where the lights are positioned to get these effects... Are they the bars in the ceiling that you can see? If so, just not quite sure how it is achieving the uniform look...

That's pretty neat. That long room shot is crazy.

That wasn't a room. It was the inside of one of the lamp assemblies seen in the first few second

The LEDs are inside a white plastic box. When they light up, they cause the box to glow in the area around the LEDs. The shot you see of the individual LED is inside that box.

Thats not a video of a long room, thats a video looking into the end of the lightbox. The LED strips are only 10mm long.

Very cool, it would make for some sweet indirect mood lighting placed above some offset crown molding.

haha, good call. I was kinda wondering how it tied in with the rest of the shots in the video, but now that you say that, it' pretty obvious that's what it is, haha. but hey, that'd be a crazy room though, nonetheless.
