Math problem got you stumped? Get E. coli bacteria to solve it for you. Need a new processor for your PC? Get E. Coli Inside! Makes you wonder how they even came up with this idea in the first place.

Scientists have genetically tweaked E. coli bacteria to create simple computers capable of solving a classic math puzzle, commonly called the “Burnt Pancake Problem.” The resulting advance in synthetic biology, according to researchers, hints at the ability of tiny “living computers” to aid in data storage, evolutionary comparisons and even tissue engineering.

Well there was this thriller/spionage/fantasy Christian/WWII history inspired book which portrayed the ultimate hacker mangling the ultimate neuron PC. This could be its grandma. Strogg anyone?

While this emerging field sounds pretty exciting..the security risks and consequences seem much more severe than what we have now.

If your CPU or computer is bio-based, then it stands to reason that someone could engineer a virus suited for destroying your computer or corrupting it's calculations.

Imagine - my PC got a virus, literally.

bah! its all a evil plan from BB to put Biohazard stickers on PC cases, and get laws passed for it to be illegal to open a PC case unless you are a "certified" tech working in a "Secure" environment to avoid releasing the "dangerous" E Coli bacteria in you PC! Thus cornering the lucrative market on installing overpriced 3 year old Video cards at cut rate with clueless teenage minimum wage labor!

Well, no I don't believe it, but it wouldn't surprise me.

But if this is an Analog Computer : Flipping DNA to solve the Burn Pancake Problem. Then there's not much to worry about, that's until they can solve the random flipping problem.
