I just upgraded my main rig from an old 2500+ to a mobile 2600+, and have already OCed it. I popped the old Mobile Duron out of my other rig, and installed the 2500+ in that one. However, when I installed the HSF, I got the fan wire stuck between one of the pads and the bottom of the HSF. D: Luckily, the FIC mobo I use in my second rig caught it, and instantly shut down the system when I tried booting. Because of the little red 'overheat' light, I figured out what was wrong.

now I have two Bartons running, one at 2.4 ghz (soon to be about 2.8 ghz hopefully), and one at stock. Today has been a very interesting day... Hopefully, I can pickup a better heatsink tomorrow, and maybe get two good OC's going (I doubt I'll ever get my old Barton up to 2.3 ghz again). Now to figure out what to do with the old Duron... ;)

I would suggest melting it to a small piece of wire with a high quality butane torch. Durons, Semprons, Athlon XP's, Celerons, Prescotts, they are all useless pieces of hardware nowadays.

Why can't they just develop Itaniums and Opterons for the consumer market, so we can move into the ultimate space age?!

That was quite a situation that you got yourself into though... :)

Yeah, I'm glad I didn't try turning it on too many times!

Actually, a Dual Opteron system in in the works for me... Going to get some parts of it in a week or so when I get a paycheck. ;)
