I am running Vista 64 and one of my disk shows offline. I went to the help menu and found out how to put it back online, but now it say that it is an invalid disk.
This a Seagate 250g been using it without problems for about a month.
Any help would be great..
Or is my 140gigs of info hosed?

Is it a network drive you took offline, or did you somehow turn a drive offline that is in your computer physically?

Was it a drive that was recently used on an XP box, and then you upgraded to vista 64? If so, Under Diskmanagement does it say the disk is a "dynamic" drive. I'm almost certian vista 64 can't support a dynamic drive. Could be wrong on that point.

Thank you for responding.
Yes It was a back up HD I was using on an XP sys. And It shows it as dynamic.. I installed Vista on a new drive while this was still connected. Everything was fine untill I disconnected it to clean..When I reconnected the drive..party was over.
So if I connected it to a XP OS I should be able to get the data off?

I also have a WD drive that can be read that was also on a XP OS go figure.
If I format the drive should I change it to a Basic?

I'd vote yes.

There may also be a program that can change it from Dynamic to Basic, and you may be able to see it. Higher risk of data loss though. The safe root would be plug it in to a XP box.

Could alway try to update vista, there may be a new update to make it work.. Dunno.

Gookluck. Let us know if you get it working

did a little google search... seems XP home doesn't support it either. Only Professional. And it turns out converting from Dynamic to Basic will erase data.

Hey thank for everything..Least It is not hosed
I will go looking for XP Pro
