alright, i just got a 1990 ford heatercore for like 15 bucks. problem is, a 120mm fan wont properly fit. funny thing is, i can fit 4 80mm on it ;) but i dont want all that noise. any suggestions, should i take it back and get like a 77 bonneville core or what? (i heard those are alright) but i would like to fit 1 120mm on it for space reasons.
thanks

Is the Heatercore smaller or larger than the 120mm fan? I'm gonna guess larger since you said that you could fit 4 80mm fans on it.

If it's larger just make a shroud out of cardboard or something.

well that is what i was gonna do, but with a little sheetmetal and screws. but it is just a wee big on the case, as i was trying to mount it in the top, but the 5 1/4 bays just get in the way....
BAH! ill just kill half of my 5 1/4 bays and mount it internally :D i just got finished modding the case last night(well, not really a mod, but i drilled some rivets and dremeled out some fan grilles) getting ready for this WC project.

also, anyone had any luck with building reseviors outta lucite? i was thinking about it, cuz i am getting my cpu blocks machined aand i will need some lucite for the top of the blocks, and i dont need the profuse amount you can get at home depot for $35. so ill have ALOT left over... unless i make a few custom lucite covers, with different head placement, etching etc... (that might be neat enough to start a project on ;) )

oh, yeah(if couldnt tell by my other post;) ) yes the rad is bigger than a single 120

i was thinking of mounting a rad housing like this:

| Fan |
| ______ \
| ________ \
|__Radiator__\

well, thats about it. its a sheet metal housing mounted in the upper portion with the 120 pulling air out of the case.

sorry its such an ugly representation, but its the best i could do at the moment

Looks like you're on the right track, but I would put the fan on the center of the heatercore not pressed to one side like you had it there. Otherwise that's the way to do it.

well the reason for the off center fan is one) its in a shroud and i wouldnt think it would present a Big problem and two) i have some case restrictions. i mean i COULD put it in the center, but i previously had an 80mm blowhole in that general vicinity and putting the 120 in the center would leave an awfully ugly hole over there. but i could mount a fan filter there and it would cover it up, but with no actual gain at all, just aesthetics...
