First things first, I'm using Windows 7 Build 7100, and Panda Platinum Internet Security 2006 won't get off my computer....

So I didn't have a copy of any antivirus installed on my computer so I installed an old copy of Panda Internet Security 2006 I had laying around. Now that I have a copy of NOD32 I can't get stupid Panda to leave me alone. Every time I try to uninstall (from the start menu since it doesn't show up in control panel) I get an error that says:

>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (390)
pAPP:panda Platinum 2006 Internet Security
PVENDOR:panda Software
PGUID:EEBA9416-3207-47E0-9022-116440599DBC
$11.0.0.28844
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 0.0

Now I have no clue as to what on God's Green Earth that could mean, but I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I have broke my computer once trying to get rid of all of the registry entries for it (I had to use system restore, thank God for auto system backup on Windows 7), and I kinda don't wanna do that again.

Thanks,

other then regedit im not sure what else i would try in your situation. try google ..im sure someone has had same problem as you and found out a way to get rid of it. not sure why you would install something from 2006 lol but ok.

delete files. delete registry keys. delete hidden files. profit?

All indications are that removing Panda 2006 is a bitch.

Googling for "removal panda 2006" comes up with interesting links. People were getting the exactly the same error message back in 2006 as well, and in this case, removing it required a PM chat with Panda tech support to get it done after all else failed:

Here, you have instructions on how to use a download called UnInstLsp.zip from a Dutch-language web page to remove Panda 2006. However, the link to the download page is broken:

And there's another thread here:
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=89986

And finally, Panda's official page for removal of Panda 2006 seems to be here:
http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/support/card?id=22504&IdIdioma=2
I would try that first.

Give REVO installer a shot, it's a great removal program. It first tries the standard installer service...and then you can do a deep removal after that.

geez that Panda AV is like a malware when it comes to uninstall it, but nothing a good clean windoze reinstall can't fix :D

While it is true a format and reinstall will do it, not everyone believes it's the only (or best) answer.

A coolant leak on your cars engine doesn't necessarily mean you need a new engine. It could , but I think it's better to learn some how's and why's of how something works before going that route. You may only need a new water pump. See?

Of course, once you start pulling out hair over it........maybe it's time to pull out that disk.
