Lite gaming computer build

I am looking to build a computer but I have limited money (about 400 dollars). I want to play games like counterstrike source and such. Right now all I really have for it is a PSU but mainly im wondering about the video card. What is probably the best card for the money? I was thinking a 9800 pro for about 80 dollars or so. Im also kinda wondering about the rest of the comp. Let me know, thank you.

This belongs in general hardware, I think (a mod will move it if they thinks so, so don't worry). Unless you are only asking abuot the video card? I suggest a 9800pro then. But if not....


$400 is hard if you need everything. Do you need to buy a monitor, mouse, keyboard, case, speakers, OS, optical drives, floppy drive, etc?

If you want to save some, you can probably find a cheaper, but smaller, hdd ($20-40 savings I'm guessing). And cut one of the ram sticks ($45 savings). But the XP-M 2400+ and Biostar are gonna be your best bets for that sort of thing. A $47 version of that case (without a psu) can be found here:

Now if you don't get an OS, you are getting pretty close to $400 I think.

Lets see, proc $83, 512MB ram $47, 9800 pro $100.00, mobo $55, case $47 = $332.

Now, I don't know how many of the following things you need, but there's:
hard drive $98 (or less if you get a different one, like an 80gb)
heatsink and thermal paste $14 (svc.com)
mouse and keyboard $15
speakers $13
dvd burner $44
dvd reader $25
floppy $12
Which comes to $98 + $123, or $221 more (for a grand total of $553). If you want to keep everything under $400 I suggest you find some of these things lying around!

$410 total shipped is the max
