I have been noticing that the list of connected clients in various Cisco Aironet APs I have just doesn't seem to be complete. I did some searching and found this at this link, http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_qanda_item09186a008009483e.shtml

Q. Is it possible to view all the APs and their associated clients that belong to that particular network/infrastructure just from a single AP?

A. This is possible from a VxWorks AP. A single VxWorks AP can display all the clients and their APs in a network. This can be achieved if you click Association > Entire Network > Apply. In an IOS-based AP, it does not display all the associated clients in that network without the help of a management device, such as WLSE, with one AP as WDS or a controller if the image in AP is an LWAPP image.

So, does this mean that four-figure Cisco Aironet APs are unable to show you who's connected to them, without "help" of another device?

"sh dot11 associations all-client" works fine for me using a "fat" IOS AP. It's only going to show you locally associated clients though.

I think the following part is the key.

Q. Is it possible to view all the APs and their associated clients that belong to that particular network/infrastructure just from a single AP?

The question is in reference to displaying all associated wireless clients across multiple AP's, not just the clients associated locally. Is that what your are trying to achieve?

this may help:)
