would it be a good idea to dip the sides of your hard drives in liquid latex.. so that it cuts down on the vibration and noise? basically dip the sides, then screw in your screws so there's a nice cushion of rubber between the drive and the cage.

downside might be worse heat dissapation to your chassis..

is it worth it?

What you going to do the screw holes then? Noise is also generated by the screws against the chassis.

You'd be better off dipping the case frame in liquid latex ... or just "grommet mount" the hard drives (and fans, and anything else that might vibrate).

setup water cooling, and dip the whole rig in latex!

quiet, cool and bouncy :p

use the liquid latex to create a suspension matrix for the drive and then you don't have to worry about vibrations ;)

Hmm, kinky.

A better idea would be to just suspend your drives with some elastic material.
Like tom said, the screws holding the drive in place would defeat the purpose.

hmmm.. has anyone done an elastic type suspension mod on a hard drive? I may look into doing something on those lines...

I think some people are taking this a little to far...

I think the the liquid latex would make a very SMALL difference if any... and look... you could always just find women to use it on :p... thats the way its supposed to be done.

SilentPCReview is a real good site for everything quiet.

Umm...do you find yourself being real quiet and only talking in whispers when you go to that site?
