Liquid Cooling Setup for under $500?

Ok I see, I could care less about drilling 2 holes, thats one of the tools I actualy do have a drill! lol but that does make it easier in their favor.

Right now I'm Seriously Considering the CM Stacker 830, I think it is pretty fugly, and can't have a side window, and it has an annoying front pannel, but I'm curious if I could fit 2x120 mm radiators in the door without breaking the plastic hinge, that would free up ALOT of space for my drive without any worries of "Ok computer is all together now where do I put the Hard Drives" plus give me more cooling.

Is it worth it though?
 
In the case front door? I would assume you could but you're looking at way more modification than you are with just chopping a couple of fan holes in the roof of a case. If you're hesitent to chop a hole in the roof of a case for fear of ruining it what makes you think that chopping a hole into a compund shape like the case door for the 830 would be any easier? Not only will you have to cut in a hole you'll also have to fabricate a box to attach to the door and seal the front of the rad off to the case door so that the air from the rad doesn't just recirculate through the rad which would be very bad for temps.

Not sure what you mean the 830 already has 4 120mm fans in case the door. (inner door) the outer door has some kind of covering.

I was in love with the TJ07 It has 2 flaws, 1) Price, but I might pay it due to crappy alternatives, 2) The Power Supply is on the Bottem but the MB is not reversed. Kind of dumb IMO. But it is definately a good candidate. Meets all requirements.

The Gigabyte case looks kind of cheap, it looks like the driver bay cover is plastic, also I'm not a fan of those on my gaming PC's so I would have to rip that cover off. I just found out that either my CPU or MB in my current rig is toast thanks to OCZ memory :(

First thing I need to order is the case...I'm still stuck here as the only case that looks good is the moded PC75 from Frozen CPU or the TSJ07....I am EXTREAMLY disapointed witht he lack of cases suitable for 2x120mm radiator.

Willthe $20 heatercore from autozone perform as well and mount up as easy? I don't care abotu an extra $20 to make things easier, but I'm not to fond of kits so I may go with DIY setup.

If you get the PC-75 and screw up the top, you can get a replacement top from Silverpcs.com. I know because I screwed up the top on my PC-70 (same size). It's not on their site though, so you'd have to call to order.
 
Ok, so I have been doing some thinking and some research.

Is the CM 830 or STC-T01 a better choice?


If I went with the 830 would my best bet be to mount the radiator in the side of the case? and would it stick out enough to interfear with PCI cards etc? I would hate to drop $250 for a case then fnid out I can't use the side cover for radiators.

Also would there be much of a point in getting it and using 2 radiators in stead of one to quiet it down? It seems that a louder fan pushing 2x the air inside of another case might achieve the same cooling and be about the same loudness since it would be inside the case?

I want the TJ07 but it's out of my price range.

The regular stacker looks pretty damn good but what do you guys think about using the Hard Drive box just sitting on the floor of the case. Without setting it there, there is not enough room for 2 Hard Drives and 2 CD Roms let alone a fan controller.


Also just found out that I might have access to a water jet Laser...

How much was the top? I see Frozen CPU sells a modified one for 3x120mm fans for $70

On a side note:

Is a 2x120mm with quiet fans, radiator and D5 Pump good enough to cool CPU, NorthBridge, and 2 Video Cards?

I used one to cool a TEC and NB. If you are looking for a 2x120mm one let me know. I sell ones that fit in your Bay for $34.00 :)

OK EVERYONE, news flash, I finaly made up my mind! LMAO.

Going to get a Coolermaster STC-T01 for like $139 shipped.
I was one click awa from purchasing the new TSJ07 Silverstone case, but igure the extra cost = my second video card for SLI.

To be lazy I am going to buy the window for it too to make things simpler. $30

and I guess I will get the crossflow fan? Is it worth the extra $30?

So Now to pick out my parts, from the sound of things the Storm is Overprice currently and the Apogee kit is not worth the price, so I will likey buy some DD Products including their new waterblock which has some very good reviews...

I was also interested int his water block but can't find any reviews on it.

I will go with some 7/16th inch tubing to make thgns easier on myself, Just need to figure out how much I will need and what kind of clamps to buy. I woudl rather buy too much than too little.

I'm thinking about mounting some kind of filling tube to the top of my case I have a holesaw but I'm not sure what product to buy.

1) How much tubing should I order for a stacker case? 10 feet?

2) Also I can't decide between the storm and dangerden TDX, is the transparent top going to lead to problems like cracking? I found a storm for $80, is it really worth 2x as much as the apogee?

3) Does any particular radiator fit the front of the stacker better than others?

4) Do I need some type of radiator shroud? And Clamps where do I get them?

IIRC, it was about $55 shipped. If I'd see the modded top from FrozenCPU before I ordered the replacement top from SilverPCS, I might have gotten that one. Cutting the replacement top was even more nerve-wracking for me, because I'd already proven I was talented enough to screw up cutting a circle.
 
Personally I like the Thermaltake Armor case

Plenty of cooloing options, with holes in the rear of the case for water cooling already.

don't most radiators have bent/ ellbow connections? Would that not make for some awkward hose routing on the outside?

sorry for butting in, but i am looking for a case -for watercooling- myself :)
 
Ok well I ordered the stacker, old one.

Like the case so far except my new 620 Liberty does not fit quite right...

I had to remove the gold fan grill on the bottem to fit it at teh top of the stacker...I guess you don't really need a fa grill there. It was a tight fit though, and I had to rub the PSU against the case is it scratched some of the paint off the top of the PSU, nothing too serious though. Glad I went with the stacker though, tons of options! And if I need another PSU or double radiator later, it won't be a problem fitting it.
