Ok guys and gals here is the scoope. I have a customer that wants it all. I have a build for her. But she also DOES NOT want a dust attractive case. So no fans for main cooling option. Needs to be Liquid for gpu/cpu/motherboard. The customer is always right eh?
Anyways her build. She wants gaming/lasting performance/ studiness.
And if she doesn't like the quote my boss is going to giver her for all this then i land a nice client. I really need to make this count because if this goes great, She wants another one like this. And her relatives will also... Catch my drift..
Anyways. never Liquid cooled before and need a hand on some stuff. Also i think the phantom case is going away, and a lanboy air take its place(customer likes the look of it.) or one that is subperb with antidust. Help please.
Oh did i mention her price limit is like 3k? lol

decent build

cpu: consider the new intel sandy brige line up (2500k,2600k), the 1090t is a good processor dont get me wrong but if i was building a new system i would be getting a 2600k

gpu:consider the 6950 (can be flashed to a 6970, either way the 6950 is the better card, better tesselation and also provides better scaling if the client wants to add another down the road)

psu: I have the 850w version of that psu and its been rock solid so im sure that should be aswell. I would get a 1kw psu just to be more future proof but thats still a pretty good psu no doubt.

hdd: consider a ssd or another hdd to raid with that one you have listed, also get the 3.0Gb/s version, its cheaper and from what i seen the 6.0Gb/s isnt any faster, someone can correct me there if im wrong.

I took it as hes not installing fans.
Liquid cooling still requires fans.
Also I imagine the lanboy air would collect dust quite easily.

Use a case with easy dust filter access and her problem is solved.

All these parts were her choice besides the memory, and PSU ( I reccomended the 8gb because she thought 4gb was max.)

Will downgrade the hdd to a sata 3 and toss in a sdd for OS.

Wait you are going to be putting fans on the radiators right?
Yes But i need to hopefully get it as dustless as possible.
I just called and talked to her. It seems that if she had to 3k would be max obviously less is better, cost wise not quality. I will run a sandy bridge build by her also.
Edit: Get this she tells me now that she plays like Ravenhold the find and seek games..........mmk.
I then procced to inquire about a better GPU and she said the 5850 is all she will want and if she must xfire she will. So increasing the PSU is a must now. I like when people read up on their tech.

So looking around i see i can use dust filters. But those need to be changed over time. So does anyone have a reccomendation for a case that would have built in dust system or something.

I was in a situation like your client was once, I wanted the case to have dust filters on all intakes. The Performance One series have easy access dust filters, while the Cosmos are a little harder to get to. The Performance ones have them inside the front door, and the Cosmos has them underneath. However, it'll probably be easier to do watercooling in the Cosmos than it is to do with the Performance One, but you may have to do some case modding if you're putting anything larger than a 2x140 radiator (I would recommend a 2x140 radiator for the Cosmos, as the mounting holes for the 120 fans do not align with a 2x120 radiator).

I guess exactly what Tsumi said. She told me no dust or as little dust as possible. So i guess a case with filters preconfigured would be best course
 
Just a thought. If fan-less is so high on her priority list, and she has a budget of 3k, you could build her a kick ass PC for about 1200 (I mean, she only wants a 5850) and add a phase cooling kit for 500 bucks or less. You're well within her budget, and the phase cooling kit is something that will stay even if she upgrades or changes her system.

My 902 has 2 front intakes and a side intake, and all 3 have filters. Though the gaping hole on the top kind of counts as an intake when the machine is off...

Even with dust filters you're going to have to clean them out, after a while. They reduce airflow and cooling capacity.
 
True, but cleaning out dust filters beats cleaning out all the fans and heatsinks in your system, especially for graphics cards.
 
Okay. I just got back from helping her. And we discussed what was posted here. The reason she wanted liquid cooling was because she read in PC MAG that it doesn't attracrt dust. She misunderstood.
Also i told her that we can get dust filters and change them once in a while or blow them out and she is fine as long as it helps cut down the dust. So liquid cooling is out. Dust filters in, Sandy bridge build is in also.
 
You shoud maybe still get her the H70, since Sb chips are great OC'ers.

You do realize that Cryo-Z is tremendously loud, correct?
 
Phase change is pretty loud. Louder than any fanned setup IMO.

I would honestly just suggest high end air cooling in a P1xx, and add a dust filter to the CPU heatsink. Tell her to crack the case open and clean the filters once a month (and on a P180 its pretty easy to do).
I also would be hesitant to setup a WC loop in someone else's computer because they might not notice if a pump fails, starts to leak, etc until it is too late. Just my .02 though.

Those are good points to take into consideration. And I certainly wouldn't go phase change unless the customer knew what they were getting into and signed off on it. Actually I would do the same for watercooling.

More than likely a high end air cooler will be sufficient. As for filters don't forget that it reduces airflow.
 
Edit: I'd link her to this thread (after some editing), or create some sort of informative outline. She seems to have done SOME research in the past...perhaps this thread will sway her mind.

HD 5850 is an obvious mistake (esp. WRT poor crossfire scaling compared to the current generation), but you know that.

I'd steer her toward an i7 2600K, p67, 6950 or HD 6850 or GTX 460 1GB build (or if the build will be delayed, hopefully GTX 560).

I'd go for at least an 850w PSU - Either the Corsair AX or HX850 or TX950 (if you must stick with corsair... otherwise, anything similar - check reviews here and at Jonnyguru).

Aircooling will be FINE for such a system. Silver Arrow from Directron maybe... if she's concerned about NOISE, then replace all fans with scythe GT AP14's or AP-15's + fan-controller. These fans seem to outperform 140mm fans when used with a 140mm adapter (at the same noise level).

There will ALWAYS be dust... you may need to just modify the case to enlarge the intake surface area, and then place filters over all of these areas (if you want to run filters on a high-performance system). If you run radiators, then they can all be blowing OUT of the case, drawing air IN from these larger (possibly radiator-sized, filtered vents).

Higher humidity tends to allow the dust to fall to the ground rather than enter the case, but I'd rather just clean filters than run a humidifier. A high-airflow HEPA-filtration system will reduce dust in the environment - this does work to some extent, but it can be a bit noisy. I'd only use HEPA units that have washable filters (they start at $150, and actually some of the more expensive models are a rip-off. The Corsair 700D would be a good pick for a watercooling case (3x120 or 4x120 radiator up-top (with cutting) + 1x120mm radiator at the back), except that you may want to cut vents into the sides of the cases (for intake air) and place filters over them - if running multiple radiators. Care must be given, however, not to ruin the compartmentalized airflow pattern Corsair has designed into the case (separate cooling areas). There is a removable screen-mesh filter built-in to the bottom of the 700D.

The Antec p18X series is a bit outdated, and really a poor choice for cooling (unless HEAVILY modified). It's more for silence (which the modding may negate), and even then, I find that the built-in hard-drive mounts transfer vibration to the case, requiring further dampening. They may have dampened the doors, but the rest of the case rattles if you have several drives spinning. I'd rather mod my own filters into a case, but perhaps you like Antec's execution here. I couldn't stand the difficulty of working in such an outdated case, so I switched to the 700D.

If she REALLY wants watercooling, then:

- EK supreme HF (Cu or Gold or Nickel) (best performance w/o sacrificing flow) or Apogee XT (best mounting system, but restrictive)
- GPU block? Maybe the MCW-80 or EK HF again... these are universal blocks, and I'm not sure how restrictive each is, but that'd be my primary criteria. These require heatsinks for the VRM/RAM (Many use the swiftech unisink or enzotech copper sinks, but if you're crafty, these can be CUT from larger heatsinks using a dremel - I often do this). - Swiftech MCR radiators are cheap, and THIN (plenty of room for shrouds). XSPC RX or HW-LABS SR1 or Thermochill TA will also work fine, but they're thicker.
- Primoflex LRT 1/2" x 3/4" tubing; either worm-drive or these: http://www.jab-tech.com/PrimoChill-Black-Steel-Spring-Hose-Clamps-for-3-4in.OD-Tubing-pr-4762.html - work well enough, and maintain aesthetics.
- Bitspower or Dangerden "Fatboy" style 1/2" barbs. These can come in black if you really want them.
- I like the Swiftech MCres v2 because it's simple, can be placed anywhere, and has all the input/output ports I want (drain, top fill-port, inlet/outlet, anti-vortex, compact, cheap).
- I'd go for an mcp350 (Laing DDC 3.1) pump + aftermarket top (XSPC or EK (I'd choose EK for manufacturing consistency)). This will be plenty of flow if you choose low-restriction components, and it'll be quiet. You can run dual pumps (in series) if you want redundancy. It's also possible now to replace the PCB of DDC-style pumps ($10, and some surface mount soldering or reflow in an oven) to overdrive any of them, using just voltage to control the speed: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=264957
- Silver kill-coil strips in reservoir, distilled water, leak-test outside of PC, tape-off all case-sections which you will be cutting (so you don't scratch the panels), etc.

How about a Zalamn reserator This way it less fans inside the pc meening less dust. 2 low rpm 120mm with fan grills should keep the inside of the computer tower cool if you have the cpu north bridge and vga all under water blocks and the heat will be dispearsed outside the case.
