Alright all you alternative OS types out there, listen up! Phoronix has posted coverage of LinuxCon North America 2011 today, so head on over and check it out.

As most are already aware, LinuxCon North America 2011 is taking place this week in Vancouver, Canada. What makes this year's Linux Foundation conference special is that it's celebrating the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Linux kernel by Linus Torvalds. Here are some photos from the special event.

Some interesting comments coming out of there:

Ask the world's most famous kernel developer what he thinks of the virtualization wars going on the Linux community between KVM and Xen and you'll hear a condemnation (of a sort) of them both. "I'm not a virtualization kind of guy. I think virtualization is evil," Linus Torvalds told the crowd at LinuxCon on Wednesday during his keynote interview session with Greg Kroah-Hartman.

Though I think he's referring to the problems he had with the Xen team.

Surprised they've managed to keep that Caldera box alive (in a sense) after all this time... But 20 years? Geez, time flies. I remember first hearing about it some 17 years ago.
