well ive been searching the internet for the best version of linux, and every site pretty much says, its per your pc specs. and i dont have accounts for any of the forums, and dont want to make any for one answer, so i figured id come here and ask. so whats everyones favorite version of linux.

ive already used fedora core 5, and have that on discs. so no need to say that. also

heres my pc specs, and dont make fun of my terrible video card, it was free and i cant afford a new one right now.

cpu: AMD Sempron 1.8GHZ
ram: 1GB
video card: mx geforce mx4000 64mb
display: 19 inch acer widescreen
Hard drives:
primary: 80gb IDE with windows xp home installed
secondary: 80gb IDE no operating system installer, used for media
Third: 80gb Sata also, no operating system.

so, whats the best version of linux, and i also want one that can run BERYL

With that system, you should pretty much be able to run any modern distribution. If you want something easier to install and use, take a look at something like openSUSE 10.2 or Ubuntu 6.1. I personally run Debian, Gentoo, Red Hat Enterprise, SuSE, but all for various reasons. I used Ubuntu extensively a while ago back in the Warty Warthog days.

You should be able to run beryl on any Linux (though configuration may be harder/easier), and the beryl devs provide information for various distros here anyway:
