People have noticed that the Linux core_65 recently got slower (http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=1287&highlight=). Guha has put a new one up.

If you'd like to use it, just delete your current core.

Yeah, I had a few of my linux boxes still running the 2.49 core, I thought they just didn't like some of the work units. It made a big difference to those that were running the older cores.

Linux vs Windows

I have just noticed something, even with the new core, this machine seems alot slow Crunching Tinkers on Linux then it is on Windows. Using LPerry's point calculator

Linux - 378 Points per week (Averaged from 4 work units)
Windows - 685 Points per week (Averaged from 3 work units)

Has anyone else noticed this? The Linux boot is running a fresh install of Gentoo, running the bare essentials. I considered about trying to run FAH under WINE and linux, but that seems to defeat the point.

Any input would be appreciated.

I hate to spoil your enthusiasm, but the thread at FoldingCommunity is about two years old and that issue should be long gone

Tinkers are a bit (about 5-10% according to different reports) slower on Linux because of the lack of a good optimising compiler for FORTRAN.
However, if what you are reporting is correct (points are from the same machine at the same load working equal time, etc.), that's really strange...
