Linux Questions

Right now, my main concern is to resolve the problem I'm experiencing where my client stalls at the hostname line, mentioned in post #24. I tried installing a fresh client and the same problem occurs. This began when I attempted to create a share for monitoring purposes, but I reverted to the original unshared config (I think). If I can't resolve this issue, I will be forced to reinstall Linux.

Is there a way to revert to the original/default settings of the OS?

Gnome and KDE both use the .desktop format for shortcuts (amongst other things) and both locate them in ~/Desktop. They'll be there in both desktops.

Actually, in my experience, I haven't had all the shortcuts come over cleanly. But, I might be thinking of something other than a regular shortcut which might explain the reason why it didn't totally work for me. However, it has been a while since I've tried it.
