Hi folks, I've got this tape drive ( Sony SDX 420c 35/91 IDE ATAPI ) that I'm working with. And I've got everything else figured out ( mt and tar are wonderful wonderful things ), but there is something that's bugging me: I can't figure out how to find out how much space is left on the drive.
I know the tapes is segmented out into blocks of 512bytes ( tape default ). So, I figured if I can get a total block count on the tape, I could figure out how much is used and how much is left.
So does anybody know how to get the total block count of any given tape?
